Obituary for Thomas "Tommy" Howard
Brother Thomas "Tommy" Howard Sr. was born February 28, 1933, in Iron City, GA to the late Charlie Howard and the late Henrietta Williams Howard. He was the youngest of eleven children. Tommy accepted the Lord in 1947 and attended Springhill Baptist Church in Iron City, GA. He joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 1989. He received his education in Seminole County School Systems and he served in the U.S. Army for two years. He sang with the Deep South Singers of Bainbridge for many years. Known as "Doctor Concrete", Tommy worked in concrete masonry for 45 years. He was also an avid coon hunter and enjoyed boxing and talking to people. Tommy was joined in marriage to Ethel Mamie Brown on December 27, 1955. To this union seven children were born. Six sons: Andrew, Henry, Lawrence, Ivey, Thomas, and Kenneth and one daughter: Charlotte. He is survived by his wife: Ethel Howard and children: Six sons: Andrew, Henry, Lawrence, Ivey, Thomas, and Kenneth and one daughter: Charlotte. He is also survived by his sister: Alena Sutton of Macon, GA; Three sister-in-laws: Mildred Young, Allie Bouie and Emma McKenzie all of New Jersey; One brother-in-law: Wonderful Brown of Blakely, GA; He is also survived by: Tommy Howard Jr., Charlie (Jean) Howard, Anthony Joe Johnson, Esther Jean Johnson, Lillian Johnson and Alfred Johnson. He will be missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
