Remembering Tracey Sanders Smith

Tracey Sanders Smith, was born January 4, 1966 in Newark, New Jersey to Cleveland Sanders and the late Helen Johnson Sanders. Throughout the city and beyond, she was known as a woman who loved God as it was displayed through her love of church and the desire to encourage and inspire others.

As a very young child at Union Missionary Baptist Church, she was taught about the Lord and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Tracey later joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Brinson, Georgia under the leadership of her father. She served as a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Choir.

Pledging the promise of “till death do us part,” she united in Holy Matrimony to Victor Smith on March 28, 1987. Her love and dedication to him endured throughout her life.

Tracey was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1984. She attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and later received an Associate of Science Degree from Tallahassee Community College. Following graduation, she worked for Florida Department of Transportation and later retired from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Tracey never missed the opportunity to enjoy her nieces and nephews. She was known in her community as a servant, and never met a stranger.

She lived her life to the fullest, earned her wings and transitioned into the arms of her Savior on February 5, 2022.

Her daughter preceded her in death: Bliss Sha’Von Smith; her mother, Helen Johnson Sanders; three siblings; Don Patrick, Elton McLeod and Charlotte Renee.

Lifetime memories will be forever cherished by her husband, Victor Smith; one brother: Corey (Brandie) Sanders. She is also survived by “Tee-Tee Babies”: Tia, Dionna, Kemron, Tr’Niaya, Courtney, Corey Jr., Cam, Ferris IV, Camrin, Carmin, Camille, Emory, Carson, Conner, Teagan. Five aunts, four uncles, three sisters-in-laws, two brothers-in-laws, several nieces, nephews, cousins, host of godchildren and countless friends and adopted family.
