Obituary

Vivian Maxine Moten, lovingly known as “Vip”, who was called home to live with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at her home in Plantation, Florida. Vivian was born on June 16, 1950, to the late Hirtes Sr. and Frances Moten in Bainbridge, Georgia.

Vivian accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey at Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church before later joining Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted member throughout her life. Her faith, kindness, humility, and caring spirit touched the lives of many, and she was known for her big heart full of love. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Vivian attended John Johnson Elementary and Hutto High School, and she worked at Amoco Fiber until health challenges led to her early retirement. Throughout her life, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, always putting others first and offering support in times of need.

Vivian leaves behind to cherish her memory children: Semetria Moten of Plantation, Florida; Michael Sr. (Alinca) Moten of Lithia Springs, Georgia; Tonya (Maunce Sr.) Lewis of Plantation, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Takara Lewis, Kadijah Lewis, Maurice Lewis, Jr. of Plantation, Florida; and Michael Moten, Jr., Milan Moten of Lithia Springs, Georgia. Her love will live on in her great-grandchildren: Makiyah Lewis, Artemis Lewis, and Zion Lewis of Plantation, Florida.

She is also survived by her siblings: Emma Rose Frazier, Carrie Moten, Hirtes Jr. (Tracey) Moten of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Victor (Rosalind) Royal of Sandersville, Georgia, Shannon Wimberly, Dexter Moten and Shaun Williams; Additionally, she leaves behind her god-daughters: Sheletia Peterson (Charles) and Shannon Kimberly of Nassau, Bahamas, along with a host of devoted nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Vivian was predeceased by her parents, her son, Robert Patrick, and her siblings: Bernadine, Harry Rufus, Thomas, and Fredrick.

Vivian's life was a testament to love, faith, and kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Although we are saddened by her passing, we find comfort knowing she is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." – Psalm 34:18
