Life Profile

Sister Wanda Michelle Wells

Daughter, Baby Sister, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, Friend,

Servant of GOD

1962- 2022

Sister Wanda M. Wells was born on September 18, 1962 in Bainbridge,

Georgia to the late Benjamin Franklin Wells and Joyce L. Smiley Wells. She

was a 1980 graduate of Bainbridge High School. After graduating from high

school, she attended Bainbridge Junior College and Valdosta State

University. She was employed by Bainbridge State Hospital as a Health

Service Technician Lead and retired from Bainbridge Probation Substance

Abuse Treatment Center as a Correctional Officer 2 after more than 30

years of service.

During her work career, she gained the respect and admiration of her coworkers, which resulted in numerous life-long friendships. Wanda was a beautiful, caring, and loving individual. She was extremely smart and knowledgeable of many home remedies, medical procedures, and biological and botanical concepts. Additionally, she was the master at executing opponents and teaching others how to dominate at playing Spades. She was the long-standing most requested spades partner at

holiday family gatherings.

Aunt Shell was the beloved aunt and mediator for her nieces and nephews,

averting many whoopings from their parents throughout their formative years. Playing games, cooking marshmallows and sweet potatoes in the fireplace, and testing homemade science experiments were common with her children, nieces, and nephews. With her sisters, Janice and Pewee, there was always fun, laughter, and happy times at her house, especially for the children in the family.

Sis. Wells was a faithful dedicated member of the Lamar St. Church of Christ. She served in many areas of the church and ministry fellowships She was always ready and willing to advance the Kingdom of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Her favorite Gospel singer was the great Mahalia Jackson. She would often sing her songs around the house and even had Mahalia’s melodies as her ringtone on her cell phone. Some of her favorite hymns of the church were “I’ll be Somewhere Listening,” “Mansion, Robe, and Crown,” “Hard Fighting Soldier,” and “When We All Get to Heaven.”

Ma Wells’ memories will be forever cherished by her sons, Timothy and James, who she loved and supported with everything she had. Her love for Brandy and Kayana was also beautiful---she treated them as her own daughters. Additionally, her pride in life was her precious granddaughters, Jaida Burke and Heaven Ellis.

After years of a long, resilient, and irrepressible fight against illness, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, GOD, the supreme architect of the Universe, summoned the sweet-gentle spirit of Wanda. She departed this life to dwell in a better country. A place of no sickness, pain, crying, or farewells. She joined loved ones and the great cloud of witnesses so gathered in the promised land.

As Jonathan said unto David, Tomorrow is a new moon, and she shall be missed. Today, we stand on the banks of Jordan watching the old ship of Zion go passing over. Truly, Wanda Wells will be missed; but we will cherish the Precious Memories that we shared. Her memories will live on in our hearts until we meet again.
