Obituary for Willie Fred Johnson
His Story
Brother Willie Johnson was born April 26, 1947 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama, to the late Grady Johnson and Mona Gates Johnson. He accepted CHRIST at an early age and became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Abbeville, Alabama. After relocating, Willie became a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church of Damascus, Georgia. Mr. Willie served as a deacon and Sunday school instructor until his health failed.
Willie Johnson attended Henry County Training School in Abbeville, Alabama. Following graduation he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He later became an employee of Georgia Pacific, Cedar Springs Georgia, retiring in 2009 with 31 years of service.
Willie Johnson was known as “WJ” and was loved by many, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him “G-Daddy”. WJ was a man that never gave up and fought until the end.
Willie departed his earthly life on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at SouthEast Health in Dothan, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Mona Johnson, his brothers Homer “Buddy” Johnson and Arthur Johnson, and one sister-in-law Vera Mae Bridley.
He leaves a legend of love and final memories to be cherished by his loving wife of 20 years, Emma Daniels Johnson who he affectionately called his “BaBa”. His children: Tameka Jackson of Dothan Alabama; Christopher (Janna) Daniels Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and Christy Daniels of Albany, Georgia; Three wonderful grandchildren: Jana Daniels, Jade Daniels, and Christopher “CJ” Daniels Jr; A loving mother-in-law: Ms. Willie Maxine Bridley; Two sisters: Dollie Kincey of Tallahassee Florida and Nealie Nelson of Abbeville Alabama; Two sisters-in-love: Carolyn (Larry) Fleno of Thomasville Georgia and Ultricia (Calvin) Daniels of Colquitt Georgia; Two godsons: Marino Ogden and Connor Daniels; Special friends: John Prise, Ricky Backey, and Andrew Jackson; He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
