Obituary
Deacon Willie James Jeffery Sr. was born on September 15, 1935 to the late Rev. H. B. Jeffery and the late Bertha Lee Johnson Jeffery. Deacon Jeffery was preceded in death by a sister Anna Mae Rogers. Deacon Jeffery departed his life on July 29, 2017 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.
Deacon Willie Jeffery confessed Christ at an early age and joined First African Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his departure. Deacon Jeffery loved helping people and spend numerous hours volunteering at the county jail and at the TSTC substance abuse center. His passion was gardening and sharing his harvest with the community. His favorite pastime was playing spade on Sunday with his children.
Deacon Jeffery grew up in the West Bainbridge Community and attended West Bainbridge and Hutto High School and later attended Thomasville Vocational College Studying Welding.
Deacon Jeffery was married to Carrie Bell Bryant Jeffery for 56 years and to this union seven children was born.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of fifty six years: Carrie Bell Jeffery; Four daughters: Phyllis Jeffery Carter (Jimmy); Debra Jeffery Harrell, Betty Jeffery Clark (Sam) and Corene Jeffery Green; three sons: Willie Jeffery, (Tess Ann Miller), Isaac Jeffery (Bridgette), Clay Jeffery Sr. (Qunda); brother: Charles Jeffery Sr. (Christine); aunt: Ruby Reddick; sister-in-law: Vivian Middleton; brother-in-law: Cecil Rogers; 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
