Life Reflections

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1

Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020 Lovie departed this life. She answered a call that we all one day will answer. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27

She was born to the late Arthur and Mattie Davis the third Thursday, June 16, 1927 in Brinson, Ga. She was the oldest of five siblings.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cyrene Georgia under the pastorate of Rev. H. J. Tables. She was a member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Kitchen Committee.

She attended public school in Brinson, Georgia. During those times high school only went to the eleventh grade. She was the Salutatorian of the Class of 1944. She continued to further her education and attended Cosmetology College in Northern Georgia.

She returned to Brinson, GA and met the man of her dreams. She was joined in Holy Matrimony on Thursday, January 22, 1948 to James L. Conyers. They spent sixty-two (62) interesting years together. To this union eleven children were born (9 boys, 2 girls).

Red as she was known to many worked at home for many years as a beautician. The perm came on the scene so she refocused her career. She worked briefly in the kitchen at then Bainbridge School (is now Bainbridge School) and Hutto High School in the early 70s. She realized she loved cooking so she decided to cook in her own kitchen. Word spread about the fabulous cakes and pies she was making. Soon she had her own little baking business. She had many customers. Thanksgiving and Christmas season, the dining room table and kitchen were loaded with cakes and pies. She baked until her health began to fail.

Over the years she acquired a few nicknames. She was affectionately called “Monkey” by her husband only. She received the name “Red” because she loved that color red so much. “Muh Dear” was a name that her children assigned to her as well as other children in the neighborhood. Last, but not least she was assigned the name “Slick Sarah”
