Geraldine A. Peterson was born on April 11, 1942 in Boston, GA. to the late Ira Staten, Sr., and Mattie Staten. Geraldine was the second child of six children. She attended the Thomas County School System. Geraldine met Airfonzie Peterson in 1956 and was married in 1961. From their union, three children were born.
Geraldine received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor Lacy Davis; Church of God in Unity, where she served faithfully. Later, she moved to Bainbridge Ga. after marriage and became a member of Morris Temple Community Church. She was later called into the ministry and ordained as a minister. She served in her local church as Church Missionary, Home Mission President, Church Secretary, Interim Pastor, and Coordinator of Noon Day and Intercessory Prayer. She additionally served as the District Missionary, and District Mother of the Alabama District for many years. Then she became one of the National Evangelists of The First Born Church of the Living God, Inc. and Diocese Missionary of the Mighty Mid-South Diocese. She is a graduate of The First Born Church of the Living God Seminary School.
She was an extraordinary woman of God, a wife to the late Deacon Airfonzie Peterson, Sr. for 61 years, a devoted mother to three children, and a very strong woman that kept the faith until she took her final rest. Geraldine Peterson leaves to cherish her memory, three children; LaVerne Peterson, Shelia Rena Jones (Rosby), and Airfonzie Peterson, Jr. (Shirley); and three grandchildren; Airfonzie Peterson III, Chariot Tashianna Peterson, and Ja’dehn Williams.
She also leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters; Jerealine Holmes, Essie Mae Ross, and Peggy Smith (Smitty); two brothers; Ira Staten (Josie), and Reverend Elize Staten; one sister in law, Ruby Douglas Peterson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and grand-godchildren.
