Mother Annie Reese Cooper was born October 19, 1935 in Attapulgus, Georgia to the late Dolphus Bouie Sr. & Rosa Mae Akins Bouie. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Adolphus Bouie Jr (Adrilla), Raleigh Bouie, Alvesta Dowdell Moore (Carl) and Sharon Martin (Freddy); grandchild, Jeremy Backey, nephew, Raleigh Bouie Jr. and son-in-law, Cleveland Backey Jr.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Attapulgus, Ga., where she served as a Sunday school youth teacher and Christmas program coordinator; later she moved her membership to Kingdom Harvest Fellowship Church in Bainbridge, Ga., under the devoted leadership of Pastor Randall Hines Sr., where she remained a faithful and devoted member until her demise. She loved her pastor and KHF family!
Mother Annie Reese was a graduate of Attapulgus Mt. Moriah High School. She attended FAMU for approximately two years, but she had to drop out due to her mother falling ill. She was a housewife for many years until all of her children were in school. She then became employed with the Decatur County School System as a bus driver for 21 years until she retired.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Otha Lee Cooper and to this union, they were blessed with five devoted children.
Mother Annie Reese received her wings on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, two months after her 88th birthday. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, four daughters, Samantha Bouie (Charles), of Attapulgus, Ga. Alver Chandler (Erick) of Hinesville, Ga, Cathy Hampton (Reginald) of Jacksonville, Fl., Otha Backey (Cleveland, deceased) of Bainbridge, Ga., a special niece who Mother Annie Reese considered a daughter, Annette Alston and one son, Glen Cooper (Demetris) of Panama City, Fl. fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; seven loving siblings: Oranell Killings (Frank, deceased), Everlena Hunt and Cardell Bouie Sr.(Shandora) all of Rochester, New York; several sister in laws, Annie Mae Bouie (Raleigh, deceased) of Attapulgus, Ga., Jann Brown of Columbus, Ga., Lucy Green (Lee), Cherry Bryant of Bainbridge, Ga., Mattie Perry (John) of Quincy, Fl., Barbara Jean, of Tampa, Fl.,Ruthie Pearl Smart (Willie, deceased) of Attapulgus,Ga., and one brother in law, Greg Smart of Tampa, Fl.; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Dorthy Smith of Fowlstown, Ga. was one of mom’s “best” friends whom she worked with and loved dearly! Mother Annie Reese was always thankful for any deed, whether big or small. She will be greatly missed! Mother Annie Reese will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, sweet, sweet spirit and extremely kind heart.
