Obituary
Sister Sandra Armentrus Gordon was born January 23, 1954 to the late Sara P. Haire and Turner Gordon in Bainbridge, Georgia
Sister Sandra accepted Christ as her personal savior in the days of her youth and joined Pilgrim Rest MBC and later in life moved her membership to Pleasant Hill MBC. Sandra transitioned from labor to rest Friday, April 20, 2018 at Memorial Hospital and Manor.
Sister Sandra attended school in the Decatur County School system graduating from Bainbridge High Class of 1971. She began her college Matriculation at Talladega College and later transferring to Bainbridge Junior College to study nursing in becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later achieves degrees in Early Childhood Education and Criminal Justice through Albany State University.
She served faithfully as a musician too many churches throughout Decatur County until her health failed. She was a member of the Georgia Mass Choir, she formed The Majestic Grand’s Choir which was comprised of the grand and great grand’s of Sara P. Haire and the Voices of Praise Choir.
Sandra wore many hats in her family and community. She was a doctor, lawyer, cook, caregiver, tax expert, arts, crafts guru, comedian, and counselor and just to know was to truly love her.
Sister Sandra leaves to cherish her memories one child: son: Damon (Pamela) Gordon Sr., Three grandchildren that she adored: Damon Jr., Merrie, and Tamela Gordon; Five sisters: Jewel (Cecil) Jackson of Gainesville, FL; Louticia McKelven of Climax, GA; Beverly Roberts of Whigham, GA; Betty (Norman) Wheeler of Plainfield, NJ; Raylisa Samuel of Bainbridge, GA; Five brothers: Arthur (Jennifer) Gordon of Gainesville, FL; Willie West Sr. of Bainbridge, GA; Franklin Gordon of Thomasville, GA; Charles Gordon of Bainbridge, GA; Dwight Haire of Bainbridge, GA; She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, very close friends and a very special niece that she raised as her own: Sharmoria Williams.
