Obituary for Coy C. (Jabo) Parrish
Coy "Jabo" Cecil Parrish was born on August 25, 1941 to the late Coy Parrish, Sr. & the late Mary Parrish in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was called to his heavenly home on Monday, June 9, 2014. He has been a member of Nelson Chapel AME Church since 1971 and was educated in the public schools of Decatur County where he was a member of the class of 1962. "Jabo" worked faithfully for over forty years at United Plastics and Thomas & Betts where he retired in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Mary Parrish, Sr.; two brothers: Robert Parrish and Charles Parrish; two sisters: Elizabeth Campbell and Janice Devoe; a mother-in-law, Mildred McNelson and one granddaughter, Lydia Heard. "Jabo" was a loving and kindhearted man who was loved by many. He always had a joke waiting for anyone looking for a good laugh. His laughter and love of life spilled over to those who were closest to him. He leaves a legacy of love behind and will be truly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Bertha M. Parrish; four daughters: Sherry (Harold) Terrell of Montgomery, Alabama; Jasmine Parrish of Albany, Georgia; Letitia (Michael) Austin of Bainbridge, Georgia; and Leslie (Rev. Lorenzo) Heard, of Albany, Georgia; one brother-in-law, who was raised as a son, Torrence "Pierre" (Georgette) McNelson of Bainbridge, Georgia; one brother, Charlie "Bossman" (Ruth) Baulkman of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren: Captain Eric (Shay) Terrell of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia; Gabriel Terrell of Montgomery, Alabama; Danielle Hall of Albany, Georgia; Taylor and Corbin Austin, both of Bainbridge, Georgia; and Zion Heard of Albany, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Terrell, II of Montgomery, Alabama and Eric "EJ" Terrell, Jr. of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia; one aunt, Virgilene Sweet of Attapulgus, Georgia; one Goddaughter, Connie Williams of Tallahassee, Florida; very close friends: Sylvia (Jan) Perry and Constance (Cornell) Hamilton; a very supportive niece, Wendy Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
