Obituary for Randolph Close
Mr. Randolph Close was born on May 25, 1949 in Bainbridge, Georgia to the late Rudolph and Lillie Mae Close. Two brothers, Richard Lee Close and Rufus Eugene Close preceded him in death. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Zuma M.B. Church. He received his education in the public schools of Decatur County from Hutto High School. He was a member of the graduating class of 1968 and attended Thomas Tech in Thomasville, GA. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1974. While serving his country he received various accommodations and decorations as high as The Bronze Star. He served as Chairman of the Senior Usher Board and sung with The Sons of Faith and The Spiritual Aires until his health failed. He was employed and retired from the United States Post Office in 1997. He leaves to celebrate his memory a loving, devoted wife, Marvel Close; two sons, Rodney Close (Charlene) of Fort Hood, TX and Randall Close of Tallahassee, FL; one daughter, Ella Dawkins of Bainbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Jasmin, Jennifer and Jada Close; two brothers, David Close (Doris) of Meridian, MS and Billy Joe Close of Bainbridge, GA; one devoted sister, Mary Ann Close of Bainbridge, GA; mother-in-law, Stella Jackson; three sister-in-laws, Shirley Ann Perry, Betty Knight (James) both of Miami, FL and SanitoneThronton (Dennis) of Columbus, GA; two devoted friends, David Robinson and Deloris Levens both of Bainbridge, GA; four aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
